Create Bootable USB Drive using Media Creation Tool

Media Creation Tool lets you create a Windows 10 installation USB drive or download its .ISO file that you can burn on to a DVD to install the operating system on a different computer.

This process requires:

  • PC with internet access,
  • Flash Card which should be formatted. How to do this is described in this article
  • USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of storage space. The data on the USB flash drive will be erased to create the Windows 10 bootable flash drive

Visit the Microsoft Media Creation Tool website

Save the Application MediaCreationTool.exe on your computer.

Plug your USB Flash Drive into the PC where you saved the application.

Run the Application.

Accept the EULA

Select create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC and click Next.

In the next step, you can select the Language, Edition, and Architecture of Windows 10 that you would like to download. Click Next.

Subsequently, you can choose to create a Windows 10 bootable USB flash drive or just download the ISO file and store on your computer. We chose USB flash drive. Click Next.

Select the Flash Drive. Make sure you know the correct drive letter. If you have more than one USB Flash it’s better to remove all unnecessary drives.

All information that is on the flash drive will be removed.

Now the Media Creation Tool will begin downloading Windows 10 to your PC. Once it’s downloaded the tool will then put Windows 10 on the USB drive. After that’s done, your drive will be ready. Next click Finish, let the tool clean up, and unplug your USB drive.

At the end you have successfully created the bootable drive with original Windows 10 latest version, which is useful not only for a clean installation of the system, but also to restore it in case of failures.
